9 eco-friendly podcasts worth listening!
Podcasts are not just casual entertainment. They can also convey essential ideas and make people aware of the importance of their everyday choices. More and more artists from the fields of bio, green, sustainability, eco, minimalist, slow and more come out of this assumption. Wishing to tug the heartstrings of listeners, they raise crucial topics, share knowledge and present the opinions of experts. Here is our subjective list of such podcasts.
1. Green Dreamer Podcast with Kamea Chayne – let's learn from others
Kamea Chayne is a creator who a few years before the start of the Green Dreamer project, decided to change her lifestyle dramatically. She wanted to tell the world a story about related global social and environmental problems, and that's how her podcast was created.
Cameo is a supporter of the lifelong learning idea. It's common knowledge that we learn the most from other people. In the Green Dreamer series, listeners have the opportunity to hear inspirational conversations about creating biodiversity, innovation in ecology, and more. Each episode has a different guest invited.
OUR FAVOURITE: EP211 - interview with Pierre Pasler from NOTPLA, specializing in creating biodegradable packaging from... seaweed. Their claim? "We make the packaging disappear." This approach is essential to us.
2. Low Tox Life Podcast – fewer toxins every day
A less polluted environment is a less polluted life - the creators of the Low Tox Life podcast convince. The project was initiated by Alexx Stuar, which since 2010 works to improve the transparency of the composition of food products, cleaning products and cosmetics. Stuar believes that everyone can influence their lives and future generations.
Podcast episodes focus on broadly understood sustainable lifestyles. The recordings are made up of scientists, activists and ordinary people who make listeners aware that everyday choices are crucial.
OUR FAVOURITE: episode #172, devoted to the "plastic crisis". It is a conversation with Brett Chamberlin, responsible for the interactive Story of Stuff project - a series of videos and illustrations showing the scale of plastic pollution. From the episode, you will learn how serious this problem is and what you can do about it. An inspiring dose of knowledge!
3. For the Wild Podcast – in defence of wild species
Podcast listeners can listen to expert statements - scientists and visionaries who realize the importance of protecting wildlife. It is a modern scientific approach to the topic of ecology, climate change and human impact on the environmental crisis.
A group of 10 volunteers, mainly freelancers, are responsible for the entire project. They synergistically believe in the mission of their activities for the benefit of flora and fauna.
OUR FAVOURITE: episode 156 - a conversation with Dr. Max Liboiron, a specialist in natural sciences, which introduces listeners to the topic of plastic contamination. Are scientists helpless in the face of a "plastic catastrophe"? It's worth finding out.
4. Sustaina Babble Podcast – about ecology in a cheerful way
Do you have to talk about serious topics only "seriously"? It turns out not necessarily! Ol and Dave - the creators of Sustaina Babble, prove it very well. It is a podcast about environmental protection, but presented to listeners "with a grain of salt."
Issues related to rational buying, burning forests, capitalism and environmental policy are presented in a relaxed and accessible way, just in time for questioning on the way to work.
5. Sustainable Jungle Podcast – holistically about sustainability
The mission of this medium is to promote solutions related to sustainable development and nature protection. Essential topics are presented in a listener-friendly form - the presenters, Lyall and Joy, will win your sympathy. A lovely couple of travellers infects positive energy and inspires to become interested in pro-environmental ideas.
Topics from zero waste, pollution reduction, veganism, etc. are discussed, and an invited person speaks in each episode.
OUR FAVOURITE: episode #49 – interview with Dan Kurzrock, co-founder of the ReGrained brand, processing beer waste into ... food. This innovative technology fits in perfectly with the idea of recycling, which we support.
6. The Guardian: The Biggest Story in the World | Environment - eco journalism
We also have something for supporters of the typically journalistic form of communication. The Guardian has created an exciting series of podcasts, created in a typical reportage style. Each episode is dedicated to specific issues related to climate change and ecology.
What particularly convinces us to choose this cycle? Under reliable audio materials, there are links to articles of The Guardian. A listener interested in a given topic thus gains a complete "knowledge package" at its best.
7. Conscious Chatter Podcast – about polluting fashion
Did you know that the fashion industry is at the forefront of the world's most polluting industries? The creator of Conscious Chatter, Kestrel, reminds us of this. If you want to learn how to choose ethical fashion brands, where to stock up with good quality things and how not to get crazy in the world of excess, then this option is just for you.
We recommend the podcast not only to fashion lovers but to all those interested in the concept of recycling, less waste and zero waste.
8. The Climate Changer Podcast – the importance of sustainable development
The issue of climate change can also be viewed from a technological, economic and political point. After all, very complicated processes affect the state of our planet today.
They are brought closer by Paul Gehres, founder of The Climate Changer Podcast, who deals with sustainable development professionally. He invites international experts to his episodes and focuses on issues of urbanization, climate policy in specific countries and the role of business - of course, in the context of environmental protection.
9. The Minimalists Podcast – minimalist revolutionaries
An inconspicuous two friends in a modest story about ordinary life - who would think that Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus will affect the consciousness of millions of people in the world? Their documentary, Minimalism (available on Netflix), became a real hit. It explains the process of freeing from unnecessary objects and reevaluating life - moving from the cult of "valuable things" to "valuable life". Simply - sometimes less is more.
The inspirational story of the inner transformation of American artists continues. Those who want to explore the topic of minimalism in details will be thrilled with The Minimalist Podcast. There are topics discussed that are missing from the document, also in the field of economics and psychology. A real treat for lovers of a more conscious lifestyle.
